The AI-NURECC is an initiative (lasting 18 months) of the key stakeholders of the Adriatic Ionian Regions, coordinated by the Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions (CPMR) with the support of the Adriatic Ionian Euroregion (AIE), Forum of Adriatic and Ionian Cities (FAIC), Forum of the Adriatic and Ionian Chambers of Commerce (Forum AIC), and UniAdrion. It aims at supporting the European Union Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Sea Region (EUSAIR) implementation and at promoting a more effective cooperation among Regional & Local Authorities, Universities, Chambers of Commerce, youth associations and networks, entrepreneurs and civil society ensuring deep and broad territorial coverage, at regional and local level.

The event will be held under the patronage and support of the President of the Republic of Croatia and five Croatian Ministries (Ministry of regional development and EU funds, Ministry of environment and energy, Ministry of agriculture, Ministry of tourism and Ministry of sea, traffic and infrastructure).

The three Fora of the civil society of the Adriatic and Ionian Macroregion represent a network of more than 120 bodies and institutions from 8 countries and they have been identified as key stakeholders within the EUSAIR with the support and coordination of the Permanent Secretariat of the Adriatic and Ionian Initiative.

The main event will be held on the 17th October starting with the opening ceremony and two panel discussions.

The first panel’s title is People on the move since mobility represents one of the main characteristics of the globalised world and it is of great importance to monitor all its forms as well as the challenges and opportunities it brings with it. The focus will be on the mobility of workforce, students and tourists and the impact it has on the structure and characteristics of the working population, GDP, productivity, employment and other economic and social aspects of life.

The second panel, Region on the move, will focus on the possibilities and trends within the region in various sectors, such as financing, transport and tourism. Special attention will be given to digitalization applicable in virtually all fields of activities as an opportunity and a prerequisite for balancing the development of the region.

Furthermore, seven Workgroups will take place during the three-days event. The four thematic pillars on which the EUSAIR is based are reflected in the work of the Forum’s Workgroups – Blue Growth, Connecting the Region, Environmental Quality/Agriculture, and Sustainable Tourism, together with three other Workgroups namely  Women Entrepreneurship, Social Challenges and Economic Analysis.

This forthcoming Joint Conference will be an important step forward in building and consolidating relations among civil society, local, regional, national and European institutions.
