The main purpose of UniAdrion is the collaboration between universities and research centres with the aim of strengthening international cooperation and of favouring the progress of culture, science, training and research.
Adriatic-Ionian Initiative was born with the signature of the “Declaration of Ancona” on May 20, 2000 at the end of the “Conference on development and security in the Adriatic and Ionian Seas” by the Foreign Ministers of the six founding countries.

Regular Members of UniAdrion are all the Universities that have signed the Ravenna Declaration within the 31st January 2001. After that date, only the Universities that forward their request to the UniAdrion General Assembly, in charge of examining and approving the applications, can become members of UniAdrion.

Home to more than 70 million people and key for Europe’s geographical continuity, the Adriatic and Ionian Region is a functional area primarily defined by the Adriatic and Ionian Sea basins.
The UniAdrion platform is an output of the AI-NURECC project (2018-2020), aimed at developing a map of research and innovation capabilities in the Adriatic Ionian region (AIR).
