Strategic objectives

UNIADRION promotes academic collaboration mainly through teaching and research activities, in order to achieve the following strategic objectives:

01

Research

Producing new knowledge

02

Teaching

Disseminating knowledge

03

Economic exploitation of knowledge

Exploit the potential of universities for the territorial development

Since the birth of the EUSAIR Strategy (third European macro-regional strategy, officially recognized by the European Council in 2014), the research activities of UniAdrion are aligned with the objectives of the Strategy, for this purpose thematic tables have been established within the Association, i.e. tables that address the same themes as the so-called “pillars” on which EUSAIR is based, namely: blue growth, connecting the region, environmental quality and sustainable tourism. In addition to developing new joint research projects and offering its experts on the various occasions in which local/national/international authorities address issues dedicated to territorial development, UniAdrion was involved in the consultation process for the definition of the new EU programming period 2021-2027. UniAdrion has been involved in the project “Supporting the Governance of the EUSAIR: Facility Point” in the 2020, with the goal of  producing a map of experts to implement the EUSAIR Stakeholder Platform and not only.

In the educational sector, the Association promotes various initiatives aimed at the development of the Adriatic-Ionian region, such as, for example, the summer school on the theme “Migration and Mobility in the Balkans”, the start-up school “ECapital Culture” (aimed at the training of entrepreneurial skills and addressed to young people from the Western Balkans), various initiatives and projects of international mobility.

The members of UniAdrion have been involved in the Erasmus+ Consortium “UNIADRION ITALY”, including all the Italian universities belonging to the Association and is coordinated by the Polytechnic University of Marche. The main objectives of this project are:

1. Promoting a higher level of consciousness, among the population of the Adriatic-Ionian region, about EUSAIR and related opportunities;

2. Increasing the interest of Italian students and staff towards the Western Balkans universities;

3. Offering more academic opportunities for exchanges to Western Balkans students;

4. Boosting the cooperation among the Universities of the Adriatic-Ionian region;

5. Containing the brain-drain phenomenon that affects the Adriatic-Ionian region and, in particular, the Western Balkans.

The link with the territory is consolidated and takes shape through collaboration with the other two civil society associations operating in this area, the Forum of the Adriatic and Ionian Chambers of Commerce and the Forum of the Adriatic and Ionian Cities, representing the business world and local authorities. The strong interaction between the three associations, which together represent hundreds of institutions, is aimed at a shared development of the territory.
